It Was Worth The 21 Years Of Praying

It took me almost a month before finally posting this journal entry and my sister's wedding photos (Could have done it earlier). Reason being, today is her birthday. :-)

21 years ago, my sister Alma and brother-in-law Keeyan got married. I personally never thought they'd come to a point where they'd have a renewal of vows. :-) All I know is that my sister's been longing and praying for years to finally have a Catholic wedding.

And God intervened.

My sister told me about her plan of finally renewing her vows with Keeyan less than a month before the actual date of the renewal (August 17, 2013), but stating that with the constraints of time, et al, she just wants something plain. I told my best friend, makeup artist Tippy Destacamento, about it. I asked him to help me orchestrate something "veeerrrry simple." Tippy is very close to everyone in my family (an honorary Buslon) and he simply won't let that day slide without having something special. (Us wedding suppliers have to make moments like this extra special, after all.) The plan started with just a simple "cutting of the cake" - and one thing led to another, so to speak. Well, the word "another" is an utter understatement. Ate Alma declared it was God's work to have the help of some of the finest talents in the wedding industry to make her renewal of vows an unforgettably blessed one - "angels" like Tippy, Boy Kastner Santos, Chef Kiko Arcabos, Aisle 1401 (Anna, John, Drei and Miko), Shiela Orillo, Serge Igonia, Czarina Llanora-Pogi, Donna Flores-Mangune, Ken Kinoshita and Gerald Salcedo. (Thank you, all, from the bottom of my heart.)

The whole process was beyond overwhelming for me. My sister sacrificed a lot (especially her youth) so that I could get to a proper high school and attend a good university. My involvement in her renewal of vows is not even nigh-repayment. It was an absolute honor for me to be part of it.

In my mind, I wanted her to be happy. God wanted a miracle for her. :-)

Happy birthday, Ate! Love you!
